Pahlawan Nasional adalah gelar yang diberikan kepada seseorang yang gugur atau meninggal dunia demi membela bangsa dan negara, atau yang semasa hidupnya melakukan tindakan kepahlawanan atau
menghasilkan prestasi dan karya yang luar biasa bagi pembangunan dan kemajuan bangsa dan Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia (NKRI).
Gelar Pahlawan Nasional ditetapkan oleh presiden. Sejak dilakukan pemberian gelar ini pada tahun 1959, nomenklaturnya berubah-ubah. Untuk menyelaraskannya, maka dalam Undang-Undang Nomor 20 Tahun
2009 disebutkan bahwa gelar Pahlawan Nasional mencakup semua jenis gelar yang pernah diberikan sebelumnya, yaitu: Pahlawan Kemerdekaan Nasional, Pahlawan Proklamator, Pahlawan Revolusi, Pahlawan
Kebangkitan Nasional, Pahlawan Perintis Kemerdekaan, dan Pahlawan Ampera.
Dalam Aplikasi ini terdapat daftar 163 tokoh yang telah ditetapkan sebagai Pahlawan Nasional. Sebelum tahun 2014 terdapat 159 pahlawan nasional, pada tahun 2014 melalui Keputusan Presiden
No.115/TK/2014 yang ditandatangani Presiden Joko Widodo pada tanggal 6 November 2014 menetapkan 4 pahlawan nasional baru, sehingga jumlah seluruh pahlawan nasional menjadi 163.
Khusus mengenai Pahlawan Perintis Kemerdekaan dan Pahlawan Ampera tidak dimasukkan ke dalam daftar ini (dikarenakan perdebatan yang sampai saat ini masih berlangsung mengenai statusnya).

National Hero is a title given to someone who died or died in defense of the nation and the state, or who perform heroic deeds during his lifetime or the achievements and outstanding work for the
development and progress of the nation and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
The title of National Hero set by the president. Since be giving this title in 1959, changing its nomenclature. To align, then in Act No. 20 of 2009 mentioned that the title of National Hero
includes all kinds of titles ever given previously, namely: National Hero, Hero proclaimed, revolutionary heroes, Heroes of National Awakening, Heroes of Independence Pioneers and Heroes Ampera.
It is included in the list of 163 leaders who have been designated as a National Hero. Before 2014 there were 159 national hero, in 2014 through Presidential Decree No. 115 / TK / 2014 signed by
President Joko Widodo on November 6, 2014 set four new national hero, so that the total number of national heroes to 163.
Especially on Independence Pioneers and Heroes Heroes Ampera are not included in this list (because the debate is still ongoing regarding the status).
