- Ever wonder what an Ingress portal would look like in real life?
With this app you will have the ability to simulate via augmented reality virtual Ingress portals. (No printed markers or trackers needed)
Instructions:
01 - Using your Ingress scanner, position your location directly in top of a portal
02 - Using this app, point the camera view downwards aiming at the ground. Preferably at a flat surface that contains lots or irregular detail. (Use the on-screen indicator for surface compatibility)
03 - Once you're set up, tap the circle in the lower center of the screen
04 - If your shot tracks correctly, you should see simulated XM particles begin to emerge from the ground. At this point you can move around and explore the portal. If the portal fails to appear, please find a better surface / lighting condition and try again.
05 - For additional information and portal simulation options, tap the portal once it is in view.
Please note: This is an unofficial, not affiliated with Niantic Labs, completely disconnected, augmented reality visual simulator. You can experience portals anywhere (real portal location is not required), but doing this while at a Ingress portal can be a more engaging experience overall.
Application Permissions:
This application uses Augmented Reality (Powered by Vuforia) and requires use of your camera and other on-board sensors. You can also save images during your AR experiences which requires access to
your SD card.
How to install Ingress AR Portal Viewer APK bundles for Android
