Situado en una roca sobre un cerro, a 927 metros de altura, era prácticamente inexpugnable; aún hoy su imagen sobrecoge a quién lo visita si piensa en cómo pudo construirse en ese lugar, y el esfuerzo que ha supuesto recuperar de una inevitable pérdida sus históricas ruinas.
