The original Eliza application was created in 1966 by Joseph Weizenbaum at MIT as an illustration of artificial intelligence and computational linguistics. The present Friend app has benefited from the original and several other versions of Eliza published on the net. Compared with Eliza, the Friend has been expanded, modified and modernized to be able to discuss subjects relevant in the 2010's. The app also provides short explanation about how programs like Eliza and Friend work.
Friend is meant to be for entertainment only, and his/her comments should not be considered too seriously. Your confidential conversations with Friend do not go out on the net since the app does not require Internet connection.
