Each player in his turn moves a piece, either while placing it on an unoccupied adjacent space in any direction, or while jumping over other pieces in the manner of the Checkers game.
In Chinese Checkers game, there is however no capture of pieces during the jumps and all the pieces remain on the board.

A basic strategy is to create or find the longest hopping path that leads closest to the home or immediately into it.
